The Jailer 2 censor process has been completed ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on October 15. The much-awaited Rajinikanth starrer has now received its certification from the Central Board of Film Certification, marking another important milestone in its journey towards the big screen.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 has been certified UA, with the film receiving an official runtime of 165 minutes and 18 seconds. The certification comes just days after the release of the film’s much-anticipated trailer, which has further intensified the buzz surrounding the sequel.
The sequel brings back Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, continuing the story established in the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The new installment expands the franchise with several returning characters while introducing a host of prominent additions to the ensemble.
Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Vinayakan and Jaffer Sadiq are among the actors returning from the first film. The sequel also features Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar, alongside new additions including SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty and Vijay Sethupathi.
The film retains the core technical team from Jailer, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music and Vijay Karthik Kannan handling the cinematography. Nelson returns as writer and director, while Sun Pictures is backing the ambitious sequel. The film will also arrive in IMAX formats, marking a significant theatrical expansion for the franchise.
