Is Suriya starting a new production house called ‘Zhagaram’?

Suriya may launch new banner ‘Zhagaram’, with Suriya 47 set to kick off under Jithu Madhavan’s direction.

Speculations are buzzing across social media that actor-producer Suriya may be launching a new production banner named ‘ழகரம்’ (Zhagaram). While there hasn’t been any official announcement, the rumor mill suggests that this could be his next major move as a producer – potentially expanding his creative footprint beyond his established banner, 2D Entertainment.

The first project under this unconfirmed banner is believed to be the highly anticipated Suriya 47, which marks the Tamil directorial debut of Jithu Madhavan, the man behind Malayalam hits Romancham and Aavesham. According to reports, Suriya will be playing a police officer in this action-packed entertainer, and actress Nazriya Nazim is also in talks to join the cast, possibly marking her first on-screen pairing with Suriya.

Adding to the buzz, sources indicate that Suriya is in early discussions with director Pa Ranjith for a separate project that may go on floors in 2026. If greenlit, it would likely follow the trend of socially charged narratives both are known for.

Though the idea of ‘Zhagaram’ remains unofficial, Suriya already commands strong credibility in the production space. His banner 2D Entertainment, launched in 2015 with 36 Vayadhinile, has produced 15+ acclaimed films, including 24, Kadaikutty Singam, Soorarai Pottru, Jai Bhim, Meiyazhagan, and Retro. Known for backing both commercial entertainers and meaningful cinema, 2D has carved a niche for itself in Kollywood.
