Is Maniratnam in talks with Suriya and Dhanush for a dual hero project?

Director Maniratnam is reportedly planning a multi-starrer featuring Suriya and Dhanush in the lead roles. According to reports, the filmmaker has held discussions with both actors, and they have reportedly expressed interest in the project. However, further discussions are expected to take place regarding their remuneration and shooting schedules before the project moves forward.

Suriya has previously collaborated with Maniratnam for Aayutha Ezhuthu, making this a potential reunion for the actor and filmmaker. However, a collaboration between Maniratnam and Dhanush has never materialised, despite the actor being in talks for projects with the acclaimed director in the past. If the discussions lead to a positive outcome, the proposed film could mark their first association.

For Suriya, the project could potentially be his next outing after Suriya 48, making it a possible Suriya 49. Meanwhile, the film could mark Dhanush’s D57 after he completes his ongoing project, D56, directed by Tamilarasan Pachamuthu. The combination of Suriya and Dhanush in a single film has already generated interest, given their strong fan bases and box-office appeal.

Suriya is currently shooting for director TJ Gnanavel’s upcoming film. The actor is also gearing up for the release of Scene, which is scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 6. Dhanush, meanwhile, is busy with the shoot of D56 directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu. There are also speculations that he could collaborate with director Siva for his next project.

Meanwhile, Maniratnam has completed shooting for his upcoming film Inji Vellam, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi. The film is expected to release in theatres on January 27. With the filmmaker reportedly exploring a project featuring Suriya and Dhanush, further updates on the proposed collaboration are keenly awaited.
