Is Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar new release date December 24?
Amid ongoing legal developments, Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar is hopeful of a December 24 release, with efforts underway to resolve matters smoothly and reach theaters soon.

Karthi led Vaa Vaathiyaar, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, has endured uncertainty over legal and financial matters, but the Vaa Vaathiyaar new release date is now taking shape. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anand Raj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, G.M.Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, PL Thenappan, Vidhya Borgia, Nivas Adthitan, Madhur Mittal and others. Shot by cinematographer George C Williams and scored by Santhosh Narayanan, the film is planned as a bilingual release in Tamil and Telugu and is produced by Studio Green.
The makers had initially announced December 5th as the release date, which was later postponed to December 12th. However, the film failed to hit screens on both occasions. The delay is primarily attributed to an interim stay imposed by the Madras High Court, following a plea linked to financial dues connected to the production house. As per reports, an amount exceeding 20 crore is yet to be settled by producer Gnanavel Raja, resulting in the court order halting the film’s release until the issue is resolved.
With the case still pending, the embargo on Vaa Vaathiyaar continues. Meanwhile, industry buzz suggests that the producer is working through the issues one by one, including restructuring distribution arrangements by moving the film away from its original distribution setup and exploring alternative release plans.
If all hurdles are cleared in time, Vaa Vaathiyaar is now expected to hit screens on December 24th, reportedly with a speculated noon release to draw attention after multiple postponements. Notably, December 24th marks the death anniversary of MGR, and Vaa Vaathiyaar is said to embrace the spirit of vintage action-masala cinema while infusing a mystic, MGR-inspired fantasy layer: an idea further amplified by the trailer’s visual and thematic nods to the Puratchi Thalaivar’s enduring legacy.
An early and amicable resolution could pave the way for Vaa Vaathiyaar to reach theaters in time for the Christmas weekend.
