Ilaiyaraaja comes onboard as composer for Lenin Pandiyan; film set for April release

Ilaiyaraaja comes onboard DD Balachandran’s rural drama Lenin Pandiyan, starring Gangai Amaran and Dhaarshan Ganesan, marking Sathya Jyothi Films’ long-awaited collaboration with the composer.

Legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja has officially joined the upcoming Tamil film Lenin Pandiyan, marking a significant reunion with Sathya Jyothi Films after a remarkable gap of 32 years. The announcement has generated excitement among cinema enthusiasts, as the collaboration brings together one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated composers with a reputed production house once again.

Written and directed by DD Balachandran, Lenin Pandiyan is positioned as a rural centric drama that aims to capture the essence of village life and human relationships. The film features a diverse ensemble cast led by Gangai Amaran and Roja, alongside Shrita Rao and Dhaarshan Ganesan – the grandson of legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan and son of actor Ramkumar, adding a notable legacy connection to the project.

The film is presented by TG Thyagarajan under the Sathya Jyothi Films banner, with Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan serving as producers. The production house’s renewed association with Ilaiyaraaja is being viewed as a nostalgic and meaningful collaboration, recalling their earlier successful partnerships.

On the technical front, the film’s visuals are handled by cinematographer AM Edwin Sakay, while Nagooran Ramachandran oversees editing duties. Production design is led by art director Athuuri Jeykumaar, completing a seasoned technical team supporting the project.

Lenin Pandiyan is currently gearing up for its theatrical release, which is expected to hit screens on April 17. With Ilaiyaraaja’s music and a rooted rural narrative at its core, the film is expected to appeal to audiences seeking a culturally grounded cinematic experience.
