Dhanush’s upcoming film Idli Kadai is set to be the next big thing to come out of Kollywood, after having secured a clean ‘U’ certificate. This wholesome, emotion‑rich ride is gearing up for a worldwide release on October 1st, timed perfectly with the five‑day Pooja Holidays weekend.
The trailer, released a few days ago, has been met with warm reception for its humble, clean narrative. The story follows Murugan (Dhanush), the son of modest parents who run an iconic village idli shop. When Murugan becomes a celebrated chef on the international stage, he is drawn back to his roots and resolves to revive his father’s eatery, preserving his family legacy. Emotional conflict, loyalty, and the ties of heritage form the crux of his journey. The film also depicts tensions with his former mentor and how ambition and family intersect. GV Prakash’s music adds further depth, enhancing the film’s feel‑good atmosphere.
Idli Kadai marks Dhanush’s fourth directorial venture, following Power Paandi, Raayan, and NEEK. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, Shalini Pandey, Parthiban, and Geetha Kailasam.
