• Mersalaayitten; Singers – Anirudh Ravichander, Neeti Mohan; Lyrics – Kabilan: Anirudh’s kickass rendition, Neeti Mohan’s poignant vocals and Kabilan’s youthful lyrics make this one a good listen, if not a winner. There is a remix version, relatively shorter in duration, which sounds so unlike Rahman. Not the song, but this remix thing!
• Ennodu Nee Irundhaal; Singers – Sid Sriram, Sunitha Sarathy; Lyrics – Kabilan: The song is finely split into two different parts. While the first part is vintage, Rahman slow-poison with a rhythmic tune, the latter part belongs to Sid Sriram’s subdued vocals supported by Sunitha Sarathy’s cameo singing. The song’s showdown towards the end with Sid’s towering vocals and the chorus portions is the highlight!
• Ladio; Singers – Nikita Gandhi; Lyrics: Madhan Karky: Ladio looks like a botched concoction of Irumbile and Khalifa from Rahman’s repertoire. With Nikita Gandhi’s pounding vocals, the song spews magnificence in Rahman’s gorgeous arrangement of instruments. A middling track, at best! Expect a sumptuous visual treat from Shankar for this one.
• Pookkalae Sattru Oyivedungal; Singers – Haricharan, Shreya Goshal; Lyrics – Madhan Karky: Spearheaded by Haricharan, Rahman’s most bankable singer in recent times, it has occasional feel-good factor in Shreya Goshal’s lovely vocals. A passable duet!
• Aila Aila; Singers – Aditya Rao, Natalie Di Luccio; Lyrics – Madhan Karky – Aila Aila is quite reminscent of the classis Strawberry Penne in parts. This is the kind of Rahman song which will gradually grow on you after repeated listens!
• Ennodu Nee Irundhaal (Reprise); Singers – Chinmayi, Sid Sriram; Lyrics – Kabilan: Easily the pick of the album! If the other version has Sid Sriram’s stamp written all over the song, this one is totally dominated by Chinmayi’s enchanting vocals!
