Ghibran’s learning from Kamal Haasan

Ghibran is one of the very few composers in Tamil cinema to have scored for a big-budget film in the early days of his career. Vishwaroopam 2 directed by Kamal Haasan is his biggest film. And, he went on to sign two more Kamal Haasan films, Uttama Villain and Papanasam, making it three in a row. However, he admits that Uttama Villain was more challenging than the other two since music plays an integral part in the plot.

Ghibran, who has raved about Kamal Haasan in interviews, shares his single-most learning experience from the veteran. “If there’s something I’ve learnt from Kamal during the last year and a half, it is that artists must neither try to overemphasise their intelligence nor play to the field with their work. Just do what comes naturally,” says Ghibran.
