Ghibran and I have been long-time friends, says Chennai 2 Singapore director

Chennai 2 Singapore director Abbas Akbar talks about his long-standing relationship with Ghibran and how he spotted the film’s heroine Anju Kurian, known for her work in Malayalam industry.

“I had a very tough time to finalise the heroine for our film. I finally spotted Anju Kurian through Dubsmash videos. And the character I had in mind was kind of close to her. Then, I met her and narrated the story. She liked it and understood everything about the script,” said Abbas about signing Anju.

On his collaboration with Ghibran, Abbas said, “Ghibran and I have been long-time friends. And, he was actually the senior of Gokul Anand, who plays an important role in the film, in the institute where he was studying music in Singapore. But I didn’t know Ghibran wanted to become a music director, and he didn’t know that I wanted to become a filmmaker. We approached the album keeping in mind that we should enjoy the songs.”

The film, which is touted to be relatively new and fresh in terms of story-telling, is produced by Media Development Authority, Singapore. It is slated to hit screens worldwide on November 24th.
