Filmmaker Pa. Ranjith has confirmed that the script for Sarpatta 2 is ready. Following the massive success of Sarpatta Parambarai, the new film will return to the same world that resonated deeply with audiences, but this time with a fresh narrative approach. Ranjith revealed that Sarpatta 2 will be centered around a political drama, attempting to capture what he calls a “super era.” While keeping details close to the chest, he hinted that the story could either be a prequel or a sequel. “We are recreating the same world which the audience loved. It’s going to be a prequel or sequel, that’s still under wraps,” he shared. He also added that the boxing portions, a highlight of the first film, have been written especially well this time, suggesting that fans of the original can expect a powerful continuation of that gritty, kinetic energy.
At the same time, Ranjith is exploring new creative territory with Vettuvam. Originally envisioned as a gangster film, the project underwent a dramatic transformation during its development. “I began questioning why we should tell that story,” Ranjith said, explaining his decision to pivot. “So I reimagined it: taking the characters and placing them across three thrilling worlds of science fiction and futuristic drama.” The result is an ambitious genre-blending film that pushes the boundaries of traditional Indian cinema. Vettuvam features an impressive ensemble cast including Arya, Sobhita Dhulipala, Gethu Dinesh, Kalaiyarasan, and Lingesh in key roles.
Dinesh, who plays a significant role in Vettuvam, recently shared his excitement for the project in another interview. Commenting on the attention his new look has received online, he said, “I saw both positive and negative feedback about my hairstyle. Some trolled like ‘Expectations vs Reality’ and some appreciated. It’s my look for Vettuvam.” Brushing off the mixed reactions, he confidently added, “Vettuvam will surprise the audience. It’ll be the most forceful film of Pa. Ranjith sir.”
