Director Vijay to make documentary on Ajith Kumar racing career

Director Vijay has confirmed that he is currently working on a documentary centered on Ajith Kumar’s racing career, offering a rare glimpse into the actor’s life away from cinema and inside the demanding world of motorsports.

Speaking about the project, Vijay revealed that the idea emerged after Ajith invited him to witness racing up close. The director described motorsports as an intense, high-risk environment where every second matters, calling it a “do-or-die world” that requires immense physical stamina, mental focus, and technical precision. According to Vijay, seeing Ajith operate within this space gave him a deeper understanding of the discipline and dedication the sport demands.

The documentary is being shot using a three-camera setup in 4K, allowing the team to capture Ajith’s racing journey in detail. Vijay noted that the project is still evolving, and it remains to be seen whether it will take the shape of a traditional documentary or a more cinematic docu-film. He added that the final call on the format will rest with Ajith himself.

Vijay also spoke about how the experience has altered his perception of Ajith, stating that while audiences know him as a celebrated film star, watching his commitment to racing reveals a completely different side of his personality. The director admitted that the process has deepened his respect not just for Ajith, but for motorsport as a profession.

Ajith has been actively competing in international racing events, including prestigious endurance races, balancing his passion for the track alongside his film commitments. Meanwhile, Vijay is also gearing up for his upcoming feature film Kadhal Reset Repeat, while Ajith is expected to resume acting commitments (AK64 with Adhik) early next year.
