Director Vijay returns with Kadhal Reset Repeat; team shares emotional moments at pre-release event

Ahead of its theatrical release, the team behind Kadhal Reset Repeat highlights emotional storytelling, strong performances and the enduring power of meaningful collaborations.

Filmmaker Vijay, known for films such as Madrasapattinam, Kireedam, and Thalaivaa, is set to make his big-screen comeback with Kadhal Reset Repeat, which releases in theatres this Friday, March 6.

The film’s promotional material suggests a breezy romantic drama layered with emotion. The story revolves around a woman battling amnesia and the emotional consequences it has on her relationships. Positioned as a heartfelt entertainer, the film blends romance with themes of memory, identity, and love.

Speaking at the pre-release event, veteran actor MS Bhaskar shared his long association with Vijay. He noted that every role he has played in the director’s films has earned him recognition. Calling this project deeply personal, Bhaskar revealed that during a financially difficult phase when he was building a house, Vijay transferred two-thirds of his salary in advance, even before formal commitments were finalized. “This is a film I will remember till the last moment of my life,” he said.

Actor Arjun Ashokan, who makes his Tamil debut with the film, described his character as quirky and layered. “He can be funny, romantic, and even turn villainous,” he said, adding that he is grateful to Vijay for entrusting him with such a multifaceted role.

Actress Jiya Shankar called the film a dream come true. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to Vijay for giving her the opportunity to act in Tamil cinema after years of waiting. Describing the director as her mentor, she said the experience was deeply emotional and one she would cherish forever. She also acknowledged the support of the entire team and expressed her desire to collaborate with them again.

Actor Madumkesh Prem described the film as a milestone in his journey. Thanking his parents for their constant support, he called the project a valuable learning experience. He added that the “main hero” of the film is the music of Harris Jayaraj, whose work he has admired since childhood.

Music composer Harris Jayaraj, marking his 25th year in the industry, reflected on his early days, including his collaboration with director Gautham Vasudev Menon on Minnale. He emphasized that a strong story structure and positive intent are key to a project’s success. Highlighting his journey, he shared that he has introduced 64 singers and 12 actors over the years, expressing pride in their achievements. He thanked Vijay for reposing faith in him for this project.

Director Bala, who attended the event, spoke warmly about Vijay. While Vijay has often referred to Bala as his mentor, Bala reciprocated the respect, calling Vijay a guiding force and a hardworking filmmaker who inspires others.

Taking the stage, Vijay described the moment as emotional. He thanked Bala for his encouragement and acknowledged the producers, including Prabha Premkumar, for their unwavering support – particularly during a challenging schedule in the UK when visa issues delayed the heroine’s arrival. He praised the cast, including M. S. Bhaskar, Arjun Ashokan, Jiya Shankar, Madumkesh Prem, and Viji Chandrasekhar, noting that each performance adds depth to the film.

Vijay also credited Harris Jayaraj as a pillar of strength for the project and said the team bows to him for his exceptional contribution. Concluding his speech, the director described Kadhal Reset Repeat as “a common man’s story” told with sincerity and emotional honesty.

With strong emotional endorsements from its team and industry peers, Kadhal Reset Repeat heads into its release with expectations of delivering a heartfelt romantic drama grounded in relatable human experiences.
