Director Rathnakumar revives classic romance with his next movie titled “29”

Director Rathnakumar, known for films such as Meyaadha Maan, Aadai and Gulu Gulu, is gearing up for his next project, titled 29. A close collaborator of Lokesh Kanagaraj, Rathna has contributed to the writing of Master, Vikram and Leo, and now returns to direction with a nostalgic romantic entertainer set in a time untouched by the internet age.

The makers unveiled the title teaser, offering a warm glimpse into the film’s emotional core. The promo hints at a soulful narrative built around a protagonist searching for his identity and purpose, supported by evocative music and heartfelt moments. With Tamil cinema having had only a handful of romantic dramas of this flavour in recent times, 29 aims to revive the charm and innocence of a bygone era.

The film features Vidhu and Preethi Asrani in lead roles, alongside Master Mahendran, Avinash, Shenaz Fathima, Premkumar and others in supporting parts. Backed by the strong production houses of Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Productions and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s G Squad, the project brings together a skilled technical team as well. Sean Roldan handles the music, Madhesh Manickam takes charge of cinematography, and R S Sathish Kumar leads the editing department.

With its blend of nostalgia, emotion and classic romance, 29 is expected to offer audiences a refreshing cinematic experience. The film is slated for release in February/March, making it one of the early notable titles to look forward to in the coming year.
