Dhanush’s upcoming film, tentatively titled D56, has commenced shooting in Chennai. The first schedule begins with a high-octane action sequence choreographed by stunt master Anal Arasu. The team has planned a 20-day schedule for this initial phase.

Directed by Lubber Pandhu fame Tamilarasan Pachamuthu, D56 is being developed as a rural entertainer with a strong commercial focus. The film is expected to showcase Dhanush in a mass-action avatar, offering fans a different theatrical experience.

The film features an ensemble cast comprising Preity Mukundan, Vadivelu, SJ Suryah and Uriyadi fame Vijay Kumar. Their involvement adds further interest to the project, which brings together performers from different backgrounds.

Young music composer Sai Abhyankkar has been roped in to handle the film’s music. The project marks another notable collaboration for the composer, who continues to work on major Tamil cinema productions.

D56 is jointly produced by Sithara Entertainments and Primark Productions. The film is currently targeting a summer 2027 theatrical release. Further details about its storyline, additional cast members and technical crew are expected to be announced as production progresses.
