DD Next Level Movie Review – Santhanam is back with his horror comics which blow hot and cold this time!

Santhanam’s journey with the Dhillukku Dhuddu franchise is one that he can be happy with, as they have always delivered the merry to the audiences. In the same way arrives the next installment of the franchise, in the form of Devil’s Double Next Level. The film is not a continuation of the story-line that we saw in the earlier parts, but it has the freaky core where Santhanam comes in as a character who is not too afraid of ghosts and deals with them in a funny way.

The film takes off with an interesting plot where a producer wants to take revenge on Krishna (AKA Kissa47), a movie reviewer who damaged the producer’s reputation with a hurtful review. To take revenge on Krishna, he is sent into a film with his entire family, who all become characters in the film and are made to interact with the others in the film. With the film being about dangerous killers, a curse, a haunted house and more killers, Krishna has to save his family and his girlfriend who are caught in this trap. This inventive plot of DD Next Level is lovely to hear, but the film does not get too inventive in terms of its storytelling or its comedy, and achieves only halfway marks in both of them. While the first half has some laughs here and there, the second half is mostly dull and there are only a couple of scenes which could evoke laughter from audiences.

Santhanam has done well in the film, but it does not have a great support cast and many artists like GVM, Kingsley and Lollu Sabha Maaran could have used better in the film. The film also has a lot of indecent comics which may be a squirm in the seat for many audiences.

On the whole, DD Next Level is one level below what we saw in DD Returns, but it will suit the fans of the genre who will have to keep expectations low for this chapter.

Verdict: A time-pass entertainer for fans of the franchise!
