The makers of DC, marking filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut, have officially announced the film’s theatrical release date. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the project has been one of the most anticipated films ever since its first promotional materials generated widespread attention.
The previously released trailer offered a glimpse into the dark and intense world of DC. Lokesh Kanagaraj plays Devadas, a man torn between love and violence, as the story unfolds with emotionally driven conflicts, stylised action and Arun Matheswaran’s signature raw storytelling. The visuals also hinted at a passionate romance intertwined with brutal confrontations, suggesting that the film balances emotional depth with high-octane action. The haunting background score further elevates the trailer’s emotional intensity, adding to the intrigue surrounding the film.
The visuals suggest that DC is more than a gangster drama, exploring themes of loyalty, heartbreak and redemption through a narrative filled with action and emotional depth. The trailer has also been praised for balancing romance with relentless violence, making it one of the most talked-about promotional videos in recent weeks.
Apart from Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles, DC also features Sanjana Krishnamoorthy in a pivotal role. The film is directed by Arun Matheswaran, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Mukesh Gnanesh and editing by Prasanna GK. Backed by Sun Pictures, DC is all set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 31st.
