Coronavirus outbreak: Major deadlock awaits Kollywood as centre plans to extend lock-down

After the 48-day-long strike in Tamil cinema against the Digital Service Providers in 2018, the coronavirus crisis shutdown has turned the spotlight on the industry once again. Reliable sources say a major deadlock awaits the industry since the central government is planning to extend the national lock-down after April 14th to contain the spread of the virus.

Biggies like Master, Soorarai Pottru, Jagame Thandhiram were scheduled for April and May releases respectively but the films will have to wait until June or July. A meeting is likely to be held by the Tamil Film Producers Council later next month once things get back to normalcy.
