Bang Bang Teaser: Prabhu Deva, Vadivelu lead a genre-bending Zombie adventure

Prabhu Deva and Vadivelu’s reunion takes an unexpected turn as Bang Bang combines zombies, action, comedy and adventure in a contemporary setting.

The Bang Bang Teaser has been released, offering a glimpse into an unusual world filled with zombies, action, comedy and chaos. The film brings together Prabhu Deva and Vadivelu after a long gap, making their reunion one of its biggest attractions. Their earlier collaborations have been remembered for their entertaining comic chemistry, and the teaser once again hints at a lively combination.

Bang Bang Teaser Introduces a Zombie World

The teaser presents Prabhu Deva and Vadivelu in distinctive avatars while they find themselves in a world surrounded by zombies. The visuals feature guns, action sequences and several comic situations, suggesting that the film is not designed as a conventional comedy.

The zombie setting gives Bang Bang a different identity. At the same time, the teaser maintains a strong focus on humour and the lead pair’s chemistry. The film is written and directed by Sam Rodrigues, with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by HC Venu and editing by Antony.

Sam Rodrigues on Bang Bang’s Genre

Speaking about the zombies featured in the teaser, director Sam Rodrigues confirmed that Bang Bang is a zombie-genre film. However, he explained that the movie cannot be restricted to one particular genre.

According to the director, the original idea was planned as a cowboy story. However, the high production cost made it difficult to immediately bring producers on board. The story was subsequently reworked and shifted to Indonesia, while the zombie element was incorporated into the narrative.

Sam Rodrigues describes Bang Bang as a contemporary film that combines action, comedy, emotion, thriller and adventure. The director also revealed that the title comes from the familiar ‘Bang Bang’ sound associated with guns being fired in cowboy-style films.

Two Female Leads With Action Roles

Bang Bang also features two female actors, Anukreethy Vas and Tharnika, in important roles. Anukreethy Vas, who appeared in Vijay Sethupathi’s DSP, and Tharnika, who played a police officer in Kombusevi, are part of the ensemble.

The director clarified that they cannot exactly be described as romantic pairings opposite the male leads. However, both actresses have significant roles in the story and feature in action sequences.

Interestingly, both Anukreethy Vas and Tharnika underwent gun-shooting training for their respective characters, adding another action-oriented element to the film.

Prabhu Deva and Vadivelu Reunion

The reunion of Prabhu Deva and Vadivelu after around 25 years remains a major talking point around Bang Bang. Their previous collaborations include films such as Kadhalan, Raasaiyya, Mr Romeo, Love Birds, Kaathala Kaathala, Engal Anna and Manadhai Thirudivittai.

With the Bang Bang Teaser now out, the film has added another layer to its anticipation. Instead of relying only on their established comic combination, the makers have placed the duo inside a zombie-filled world with action, adventure and thriller elements.

With Prabhu Deva and Vadivelu leading the cast and Sam Rodrigues attempting a genre-blending approach, Bang Bang promises to offer a distinctive theatrical experience very soon.
