The latest buzz surrounding Jailer 2, the much-awaited sequel to Nelson Dilipkumar’s blockbuster Jailer, suggests that Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna has declined a special cameo role offered to him.
According to sources, Balakrishna was approached to play a powerful police officer with a strong mass presence, featuring an impactful introduction sequence and crucial scenes set in both flashback and present-day portions in Hyderabad, where the character aids Rajinikanth’s Muthuvel Pandian at a key juncture in the narrative.
However, industry insiders reveal that the veteran actor, currently enjoying a strong heroic phase in his career, has been turning down cameo or supporting roles. Reportedly, Balakrishna also refused a prominent role in Andhra King Taluka, which later went to actor Uppendra.
With Balakrishna opting out, the makers of Jailer 2 are said to be in discussions with Vijay Sethupathi or Fahadh Faasil to fill the part, possibly with minor changes to suit the chosen actor’s persona. Meanwhile, the film’s production is progressing briskly, with the recent Goa schedule featuring Rajinikanth now completed. Jailer 2 is gearing up for a grand worldwide release on June 12th, promising another action packed entertainer from the superstar-director duo.
