Ashwath Marimuthu reveals ‘paradise’ as central idea in STR 51; Santhanam joins the cast

Director Ashwath Marimuthu reveals that STR 51 will revolve around the idea of “paradise” and confirms Santhanam’s role alongside Silambarasan in the fantasy-romantic entertainer.

Director Ashwath Marimuthu has shared new details about his upcoming project with Silambarasan TR, currently referred to as STR 51. According to the filmmaker, the story will revolve around the idea of “paradise,” a theme that will shape the film’s narrative and emotional core.

Ashwath explained that the film will approach the concept of paradise from a unique perspective, exploring how individuals imagine or pursue their own versions of happiness. While the subject has a philosophical undertone, the director indicated that the story will be presented in an engaging commercial format that blends romance and fantasy elements.

The film marks the first collaboration between Ashwath and Silambarasan. Earlier promotional material had already hinted at a fantasy-driven storyline by introducing the protagonist as the “God of Love.” This glimpse suggested that the film may combine imaginative storytelling with a romantic backdrop.

The director also confirmed that actor-comedian Santhanam will be part of the project. His casting brings him back together with Silambarasan after several years. The pair previously shared screen space in a number of popular films, where their comic timing became a highlight for audiences.

Although the official title of the film is yet to be announced, Ashwath had earlier mentioned that it will begin with the letter “I.” The project is backed by AGS Entertainment and is expected to move into production once Silambarasan completes his current film commitments.

With a fantasy premise, a popular star in the lead role, and the reunion of Silambarasan and Santhanam, STR 51 has already generated curiosity among fans ahead of its production phase.
