In a recent interaction with film critic Baradwaj Rangan, AGS Entertainment’s CEO Archana Kalpathi opened up about the production house’s upcoming slate, sharing insights on STR – Ashwath, Pradeep Ranganathan’s next, and also reflecting on the impact of Thalapathy Vijay on the industry.
Speaking about the much-anticipated collaboration between Silambarasan TR and director Ashwath Marimuthu, Archana Kalpathi confirmed that the film is shaping up as a full-fledged romantic entertainer. Addressing expectations surrounding STR’s screen image, she revealed that the makers have already planned four dance numbers, striking a balance between romance and commercial appeal. The project is among AGS Entertainment’s most exciting line-ups for the coming year.
Archana Kalpathi also confirmed that Pradeep Ranganathan will be acting and directing his next film, which will be produced under the AGS banner. Calling it a highly exciting project, she stated that the film is being planned for shooting and release in 2026. The announcement has already generated curiosity, given Pradeep’s proven track record as both a filmmaker and performer, and the creative freedom he enjoys with the production house.
Reflecting on Thalapathy Vijay’s absence from the release calendar, Archana Kalpathi acknowledged the significant vacuum his films leave at the box office. Drawing parallels to a similar situation in 2025, she said that Vijay’s space in the industry cannot be filled overnight. From a producer’s perspective, she emphasized how crucial his presence is to the ecosystem of Tamil cinema. Looking ahead, she expressed excitement about the coming year, which includes the STR – Ashwath film, the Pradeep Ranganathan project, and another venture with Action King Arjun.
