Arasan brings back Chandra as Andrea Jeremiah returns to the Vada Chennai universe

Andrea Jeremiah reunites with Vetrimaaran as Chandra, with Arasan expanding the Vada Chennai universe while Silambarasan TR headlines the gritty drama currently under production.

Andrea Jeremiah has joined the cast of Silambarasan TR’s Arasan, directed by Vetrimaaran, reprising her role as Chandra from the filmmaker’s cult classic Vada Chennai. The actor recently shared a photograph on social media, dressed in a saree and captioned simply Chandra, officially confirming her association with the project. With Arasan set in the same Vada Chennai universe, her return adds narrative continuity and emotional depth to the film’s expanding world.

Chandra remains one of the most impactful female characters in Vetrimaaran’s filmography, and her reappearance in Arasan signals a deeper exploration of interconnected lives within this gritty universe. Andrea’s inclusion strengthens the film’s ensemble and reconnects audiences to familiar characters, while also expanding the scope of the story beyond its predecessor.

Arasan stars Silambarasan TR in the lead, alongside Vijay Sethupathi and is backed by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the V Creations banner. The project has been in development for several years and draws from a script originally conceived by Vetrimaaran for STR, now reshaped and expanded to fit into the Vada Chennai timeline.

The film’s shoot is currently underway in Kovilpatti, where crucial portions are being filmed. This schedule is expected to continue for another week to ten days. Following this, the makers plan to shift the production to Chennai for the next major schedule, set to begin in January.

With filming progressing smoothly and key characters from the Vada Chennai universe returning, Arasan is steadily building anticipation as a significant expansion of Vetrimaaran’s acclaimed cinematic world.
