Anupama Parameswaran’s Lockdown movie secures new release date
Anupama Parameswaran’s emotional survival drama Lockdown secures a new December 5 release date, promising an intense portrayal of isolation, fear, and resilience.

Anupama Parameswaran’s long awaited Lockdown movie has finally locked in a fresh release date. the movie will now hit theatres on December 5th, after earlier plans to release in June were postponed. The announcement comes from the makers, following months of anticipation and delay.
Directed by first time filmmaker AR Jeeva, Lockdown promises to be a gripping tale of fear, strength, and survival. In the earlier teaser, Anupama is shown navigating deserted streets during a strict lockdown, desperately seeking help: but even her plea to her father goes unanswered. The visuals hint at a deeply emotional narrative built around isolation and the psychological toll of the lockdown.
The ensemble cast of Lockdown is both strong and diverse. Alongside Anupama Parameswaran, the film features Charlie, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Saba Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh, and Asha. This multi-generational cast suggests that the film will explore not just the personal struggles of lockdown, but also its broader social and relational implications.
Backing the project is Lyca Productions, with Subaskaran as the producer. On the technical front, the film brings together a talented team: NR Raghunanthan and Siddharth Vipin co-compose the music, KA Sakthivel handles cinematography, VJ Sabu Joseph is the editor, and A Jayakumar works on art direction.
The new December 5th release date places Lockdown in direct competition with Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar, adding a layer of box-office intrigue. For Anupama, who has already had a busy year with several releases, Lockdown represents a powerful, character-driven cinematic moment: one that could resonate deeply with audiences given its timely and emotional storyline.
