Composer Anirudh Ravichander has offered a candid and humorous take on his creative process with director Nelson Dilipkumar while discussing the promotional video for the much-anticipated film KHxRK, which stars legends Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. In a recent interview, Anirudh likened their interactions during the promo’s creation to scenes straight out of a reality show, underscoring the spontaneity and genuine camaraderie behind the clips.
Speaking to Provoke TV, Anirudh explained that the short features starring him and Nelson were not scripted. He suggested that if a camera were placed in his studio to capture their everyday creative exchanges, the resulting footage would closely resemble the promo content. “All of us in the studio are always happy,” he said, conveying the relaxed and collaborative atmosphere in which the material took shape.
On the choice of how the KHxRK promo was put together, the composer added that the footage involving Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth was shot first. Subsequently, the team decided to add extra scenes before the stars’ appearance, and those were ad-libbed, reflecting a playful and improvisational approach during production.
The promo itself has stirred excitement among fans, especially as KHxRK marks a historic reunion between Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth after more than four decades. Their last starring collaboration was in Ninaithale Inikkum (1979), and although they appeared together later in Thillu Mullu (1981), this project reunites them in central roles, amplifying anticipation for the film’s eventual release.
As buzz grows around the film, Anirudh’s remarks offer a glimpse into the spirited and creative environment behind one of Tamil cinema’s most talked-about projects this year.
