After the emotionally intense Jama, writer-director Pari Elavazhagan shifts to a breezy romantic family entertainer. Set in the vibrant neighbourhood of Perambur, Anbe Diana follows the love story of a traditional Telugu boy and an Anglo-Indian girl. As their relationship faces opposition from family rivalries, cultural differences and deep rooted prejudices, the couple must prove that love can bridge generations of conflict. While the opening portions establish the characters and setting, the narrative gradually finds its rhythm.

The film becomes considerably more engaging after the interval. The second half is packed with entertaining conflicts, heartfelt family moments and well-written comedy. The marriage hall sequence, the emotionally charged conversations and the final stretch deliver consistent laughs while also strengthening the emotional core of the story. Despite following a familiar template, the film succeeds through its lighthearted treatment and relatable relationships. A subtle dialogue addressing caste prejudice also deserves appreciation for its mature handling.

Pari Elavazhagan delivers a convincing performance, fitting comfortably into the romantic and comedic space. Ramya Ranganathan brings warmth and charm to Diana, sharing an easy chemistry with Pari throughout the film. Chetan lends emotional weight to the narrative, while Roja makes an impressive return with a graceful and impactful performance. Parithabangal Gopi emerges as one of the strengths of the film. His effortless comic timing and constant presence alongside the lead characters create several memorable moments that keep the entertainment quotient high.

Bharath Sankar’s music blends naturally with the film’s emotional and comedic moments, enhancing the overall viewing experience. Shelley Calist’s cinematography beautifully captures the colourful streets and vibrant atmosphere of Perambur, giving the setting a strong identity. The editing by Partha keeps the narrative crisp, especially in the second half where the pacing improves significantly. The production values are neat and complement the film’s grounded family setting without becoming distracting.

Anbe Diana is an enjoyable romantic family entertainer that combines humour, emotions and relatable relationships with ease. Although the storyline follows a familiar route and the first half progresses at a measured pace, the entertaining second half, lively comedy and appealing performances make it a satisfying watch. Pari Elavazhagan delivers another impressive outing, proving his versatility with a clean, feel-good entertainer that leaves audiences smiling.
