Dulquer Salmaan’s much-awaited period drama Kaantha, set against the backdrop of the 1950s, has now found its Tamilnadu distributor in AGS Cinemas. The banner, known for backing major theatrical releases, has added another big title to its lineup after recently acquiring Lokah which is also produced under Dulquer’s home banner, Wayfarer Films.
Director Selvamani Selvaraj, positions Kaantha as a layered, meta-cinematic drama laced with supernatural undertones. Dulquer portrays a superstar actor, while Samuthirakani appears as the once-mentor-turned-creative-rival, as the teaser hints at a combustible confrontation between ego and legacy during the making of a fictional supernatural film titled Saantha. Bhagyashri Borse has been introduced as the film’s female lead, and the teaser suggests the narrative will explore ambition, power struggles and psychological tension as much as it does ghostly intrigue.
With Kaantha promising to showcase a distinct narrative style and rich period detailing, the anticipation among fans and cinephiles is high. The film is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on November 14th in both Tamil and Telugu, while the trailer is set to drop tomorrow, November 6th.
