Reports are rife that actor Suriya is set to reunite with filmmaker TJ Gnanavel for a new project, marking their second collaboration after the critically acclaimed Jai Bhim. The development has already created strong excitement among fans, considering the massive impact their previous film created both critically and commercially.
According to reports, the upcoming venture is expected to go on floors once Suriya completes his current commitments. While an official announcement is still awaited, industry buzz suggests that discussions between the actor and director have been progressing positively over the past few months. The shoot is reportedly planned to begin from September after Suriya wraps up his ongoing project with Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan.
Released in 2021, Jai Bhim emerged as one of the most celebrated Tamil films in recent years. Inspired by real-life incidents, the courtroom drama won widespread acclaim for its hard-hitting storytelling, powerful social commentary and performances. Suriya’s portrayal of advocate Chandru received immense appreciation, while the film further established T.J. Gnanavel as a filmmaker known for socially-driven narratives.
Following the success of Jai Bhim, both Suriya and Gnanavel moved on to different projects. While Suriya balanced commercial entertainers with content-oriented films, Gnanavel shifted focus towards large-scale ventures in Tamil cinema. Their reported reunion has now sparked curiosity around the genre and scale of the new film.
Reports also suggest that the project is likely to be produced under Suriya and Jyotika’s new banner, Zhagaram Studios. On the work front, Suriya was recently seen in the mega-blockbuster Karuppu, and also has Vishwanath & Sons with Venky Atluri lined up for release on July 24.
