After delay, Anupama’s Lockdown sets its new release date for December 12th

Lockdown movie new release date announced as Dec 12, bringing the emotional drama to theatres after weather-induced scheduling changes.

After weather-related disruptions, Lockdown has finally secured its new release date. Initially planned for December 5th, the film was postponed due to heavy Chennai rains, and the makers have now confirmed that Lockdown will arrive in theatres on December 12th, opening alongside Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar. This revised schedule has renewed interest around the lockdown movie new release date, especially with audiences eager for fresh content this weekend.

At the heart of Lockdown is Anupama Parameswaran, who plays Anita – a character navigating an intensely personal emotional landscape. The trailer indicates that Anupama carries the film with a layered, restrained performance, portraying a woman grappling with loneliness, unresolved trauma, and the suffocating heaviness of the lockdown era. Her portrayal seems positioned as the film’s strongest anchor.

Complementing the drama is the film’s dual-composer setup, with NR Raghunanthan and Siddarth Vippin crafting a score that deepens the film’s introspective tone. Their music appears to elevate both the silences and the emotional ruptures that define the protagonist’s journey.

Cinematographer KA Shakthivel enhances the film’s mood with visuals that capture confinement without monotony: framing tight spaces with expressive texture. Editor VJ Sabu Joseph maintains a cohesive flow, ensuring the narrative remains engaging despite its intimate setting. Action director Sherif contributes selectively, adding a jolt of intensity where required without overwhelming the central drama.

Backed by Lyca Productions and co-produced by GKM Tamil Kumaran, Lockdown now steps into release week with regained momentum, hoping its new date brings it the attention it aims for.
