A film worthy of support: Idly Kadai earns critical and political praise

Celebrated by Selvaraghavan and BJP’s ANS Prasad, Dhanush’s Idly Kadai wins hearts for its cultural depth, emotional storytelling, and strong box office run.

Dhanush’s latest directorial venture Idly Kadai is winning hearts across Tamil Nadu, not just among audiences but also from notable figures in the film industry and political circles. Director Selvaraghavan, deeply moved by the film, took to social media to share his thoughts, saying, “After a long time, here’s a film that stays in the heart.” He specifically praised the emotional depth of characters like Karuppu Saamy and the calf, saying they brought tears to his eyes. Reflecting on the film’s themes, he added, “Only now do I truly understand how much we must respect our native roots and villages.” He ended his message with a heartfelt, “Congratulations, Thambi @dhanushkraja,” offering brotherly support to Dhanush for crafting a story so emotionally rich and rooted.

The praise didn’t stop there. BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad publicly urged the Tamil Nadu government to grant Idly Kadai a tax exemption. He commended the film’s focus on Tamil culture, non-violence, and traditional values, stating that such stories deserve encouragement and wide viewership across the state. He also congratulated Dhanush for making a film that, in his view, stands as a cultural asset.

Meanwhile, the film continues to perform strongly at the box office. With sustained public interest and positive word of mouth, Idly Kadai is now inching towards the 50 crore (gross) mark in Tamil Nadu alone. It’s still running successfully in around 300 screens across the state, a testament to its emotional impact, strong storytelling, and cultural resonance. As appreciation pours in from all corners, Idly Kadai is shaping up to be not just a hit film, but a memorable milestone in Kollywood.
