Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Ashwath Marimuthu share exciting details about Dharman

Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Ashwath Marimuthu shared key details about Dharman, including its genre, music, production journey and the film's immediate shooting plans.

The launch event of Dharman, formerly referred to as Thalaivar 173, was held on a grand scale, with Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ashwath Marimuthu, Simran, and the film’s core team sharing several exciting updates about the much-awaited project.

From the film’s music and genre to Rajinikanth’s role and the long-awaited collaboration between Kamal Haasan and the Superstar, the event offered plenty of talking points.

Ashwath Marimuthu Promises an Entertaining Thriller

Director Ashwath Marimuthu revealed that Dharman will feature eight songs, with each track belonging to a different genre.

The filmmaker expressed his excitement about collaborating with Anirudh Ravichander for the first time. He also shared that the film’s opening schedule will begin with a special introduction song for Rajinikanth.

According to Ashwath, the intro number will carry all the trademark elements associated with an Anirudh composition for the Superstar.

The director also dismissed speculation surrounding the story. He clarified that Dharman is not a film about a “₹5 doctor” but revolves around a character named Dharman Doctor, who is both stylish and dangerous.

Describing the film’s tone, Ashwath said it would combine the entertainment value of Padayappa with the thriller elements of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. He added that the film is designed as a family-friendly entertainer.

Rajinikanth Opens Up About Criticism and the Film’s Journey

During his speech, Rajinikanth spoke candidly about public scrutiny.

The actor remarked that people often find reasons to criticize whether he speaks publicly or remains silent. He added that he has now understood that criticism and support are both part of public life.

Rajinikanth also revealed the interesting development journey of Dharman. According to him, Ashwath Marimuthu became the fourth filmmaker associated with the project.

Initially, KS Ravikumar was considered for the film. Later, Sundar C came on board but could not proceed due to prior commitments. Director Cibi Chakaravarthi was subsequently attached to a script involving a nuclear scientist, with portions planned in Afghanistan and Russia. However, the team decided to postpone that project.

Eventually, Ashwath Marimuthu joined the film, leading to the birth of Dharman.

Rajinikanth further confirmed that shooting will commence immediately and described the film as a complete entertainer packed with thrilling moments. He also highlighted actress Simran’s role, stating that she has a substantial character throughout the film.

Simran Delighted to Reunite With Rajinikanth

Actress Simran expressed her happiness about sharing screen space with Rajinikanth once again.

The actress revealed that she had wanted to collaborate with the Superstar after Petta and had been waiting for the right opportunity. She thanked Kamal Haasan and Ashwath Marimuthu for making the reunion possible and said she was eager to begin filming.

Kamal Haasan Reflects on His Bond With Rajinikanth

Producer Kamal Haasan spoke warmly about his long association with Rajinikanth.

The actor recalled how both of them rose to similar heights in the industry within a short span of time despite Rajinikanth initially appearing in smaller roles. Kamal said they had often discussed collaborating on a project but struggled to find the right script.

According to him, that long search has finally ended with Dharman. He also hinted that another collaboration between the two cinema legends could happen in the future.

Kamal Haasan Praises Anirudh Ravichander

Kamal Haasan also lauded composer Anirudh Ravichander for his growing international recognition.

He remarked that Anirudh’s music is no longer confined to cinema and is now reaching global platforms. Kamal added that Raaj Kamal Films International is proud to have Anirudh onboard for Dharman.

The veteran actor-producer concluded by stressing the importance of high production values in Indian cinema and stated that both he and Rajinikanth share the vision of delivering technically superior films.

With shooting set to begin immediately, Dharman has officially moved into production. Backed by Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ashwath Marimuthu, and Anirudh Ravichander, the film has already emerged as one of the most anticipated Tamil projects currently in the making.
