Suriya condemns Jana Nayagan leak as industry unites against piracy
Industry unites against Jana Nayagan leak as Suriya, Vishal, and others condemn piracy and call for strict action and audience responsibility.

The Tamil film industry has come together in strong opposition following the piracy leak of Jana Nayagan, with actor Suriya leading the voices condemning the incident. Calling such leaks “unforgivable,” Suriya expressed his support for the film’s team and emphasised the damage caused to the collective effort behind filmmaking.
In his statement, Suriya highlighted the years of hard work that go into creating a film, stressing that piracy undermines not just the makers but the entire ecosystem of cinema. His remarks reflect growing concern within the industry, especially at a time when large-scale productions rely heavily on theatrical performance.
Actor Vishal also shared an emotional response to the leak, describing it as deeply disheartening. He pointed out that the dedication and commitment of hundreds of individuals are reduced to nothing when such incidents occur. His note underlined the emotional and professional toll piracy takes on film teams.
Meanwhile, several other prominent voices from the industry, including GV Prakash, Vijay Antony, Suresh Kamatchi, Shanthnu, and others, strongly condemned the leak. They collectively urged audiences to refrain from supporting piracy and to respect the efforts of filmmakers by choosing legal viewing platforms.
The issue has also drawn attention at an institutional level. The Tamil Film Producers Council has appealed to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to take suo motu action against those responsible. The council has called for stricter enforcement of anti-piracy measures, noting that such breaches continue to pose a serious threat to the industry’s sustainability.
The Jana Nayagan leak has once again highlighted the urgent need for stronger safeguards against digital piracy. As voices across the industry grow louder, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting creative work and ensuring that audiences support cinema through legitimate means.
