TN 2026 – Thanga Natchathiram makers clarify film is not linked to Thalapathy Vijay’s TVK
Natty, Thambi Ramaiah and director Umapathy Ramaiah dismiss political speculation, stating TN 2026 is a commercial entertainer not targeting any political leader or party.

The teaser of TN 2026 – Thanga Natchathiram recently sparked widespread discussion among audiences, with many speculating that the film draws inspiration from actor Thalapathy Vijay’s political journey and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). However, the film’s team has now addressed these assumptions during a press interaction, clarifying that the project is not connected to any real-life political movement.
Speaking at the press meet, actors Natty and Thambi Ramaiah explained that the film’s story was conceived well before recent political developments. According to them, the screenplay was written nearly a year ago, and filming had already wrapped two months prior. Interestingly, the team noted that certain real-world incidents that occurred in recent weeks appear similar to moments depicted in the film, though these parallels were purely coincidental.
Addressing questions about whether the film functions as a spoof, Thambi Ramaiah stated that TN 2026 revolves around a popular mass hero who already possesses fame and wealth but aspires to gain political power. He described the film as a commercial entertainer filled with humour and repeat-value moments designed to engage audiences in theatres. The story has been written by Thambi Ramaiah himself and directed by his son, Umapathy S. Ramaiah.
The actor also clarified that the film does not target or criticize any political party or individual. Drawing from his past collaborations with Vijay, he urged viewers not to judge the film solely based on the teaser and assured that audiences would understand the intent after watching the complete film. He emphasized that the narrative is meant purely for entertainment and not as political commentary.
Natty, who plays the lead role, shared that his character features multiple looks throughout the film. He revealed that an early design reference was inspired by a political personality but was later modified to avoid resemblance or mockery. The final appearance, however, unintentionally reminded many viewers of Vijay, leading to public curiosity during filming. Natty reiterated that the film does not demean anyone and expressed gratitude toward Vijay and his supporters.
Director Umapathy S. Ramaiah echoed the same sentiment, stating that only a small portion of the film has been revealed through the teaser and that speculation has grown beyond its intent. He maintained that TN 2026 – Thanga Natchathiram is not aimed against any political figure or party and should be viewed purely as a cinematic entertainer. The director added that the film respects all individuals and carries no defamatory elements.
TN 2026 – Thanga Natchathiram is scheduled to release in theatres on April 10.
