Veteran actor Radhika Sarathkumar has offered audiences an intriguing BTS glimpse into her striking transformation for the upcoming rural drama Thaai Kizhavi, directed by debutant Sivakumar Murugesan. In a recent promotional video, Radikaa revealed that she shared images of her character’s prosthetic-enhanced appearance with longtime colleague Kamal Haasan, who was genuinely impressed by the look.
To authentically portray an elderly, no-nonsense village matriarch, the creative team employed extensive prosthetic makeup, including custom designed ears suited for heavy traditional earrings and detailed wrinkle effects. Radikaa described her on screen persona as a formidable presence, joking that she’s “basically the real OG thug,” a remark that underscores both the toughness and unpredictability of her character.
The teaser released earlier has already set the tone for the film. Radhika’s character: a ruthless moneylender known for her foul language and unflinching attitude – appears to dominate the village landscape, confronting locals and enforcing her own brand of justice.
Produced by Sudhan Sundaram’s Passion Studios and presented by Sivakarthikeyan’s SK Productions, Thaai Kizhavi features an ensemble cast including Singam Puli, Arul Doss, Munishkanth, Bala Saravanan and others. With cinematography by Vivek Vijayakumar and music by Nivas K Prasanna, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on February 20th.
