GV Prakash returns in cheerful new movie Happy Raj; Abbas makes a comback

Uniting GV Prakash’s lively new avatar with Abbas’s return, Happy Raj embraces a theme of hope, joy and emotional rejuvenation.

GV Prakash Kumar’s upcoming movie has been officially titled Happy Raj, with the makers unveiling three first-look posters that introduce the actor in a vibrant new avatar. The film marks the directorial debut of Maria Raja Elanchezian and brings actor Abbas back to Tamil cinema after a long gap. Sri Gouri Priya takes on the female lead, while the supporting cast includes George Mariyam, Prarthna, Adhirchi Arun, Madurai Muthu and several others.

Director Maria Raja Elanchezian revealed that the title Happy Raj reflects the essence of the film, which aims to offer a cheerful, high-spirited cinematic experience. At a time when social media negativity and real-world anxieties dominate the collective mood, the director describes the film as an attempt to inject positivity and optimism. He adds that the protagonist’s name “Happy” is not merely a character label but a thematic element designed to echo throughout the narrative, functioning almost like a repeated mantra intended to uplift.

The film is backed by producer Jayavardhanan, with Jaikanth Suresh serving as co-producer. Justin Prabhakaran handles the music, Madhan Christopher is in charge of cinematography, Selva RK manages the editing, and Kumar Gangappan leads the art direction.

GV Prakash, meanwhile, has a packed slate, with Mental Manadhil directed by Selvaraghavan and another upcoming project under Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions. Happy Raj adds yet another promising title to the actor’s lineup as he continues to balance acting assignments alongside his musical commitments.
