Anjaan set for re-release with a fresh edit this November; official date locked!

A decade after its original release, Suriya’s stylish action drama returns to theatres with a re-edited version, aiming for a sharper, more impactful experience.

More than a decade after it first hit theatres, Anjaan, the 2014 action-packed drama starring Suriya, is gearing up for a grand comeback. The film’s production banner, Thirrupathi Brothers, has officially announced that a re-edited version of the movie will be re-released in cinemas on November 28th, 2025.

Directed by Lingusamy, Anjaan originally opened to a wave of high expectations, but its theatrical run turned out to be a mixed bag. While fans praised Suriya’s dual performance and the film’s stylish visuals, many felt the screenplay lacked impact. Over time, though, the film found a loyal audience through TV reruns and streaming platforms, where it became something of a nostalgic watch for fans of Suriya and commercial cinema.

Now, with a re-edited version on the way, the makers are promising a tighter and possibly more refined viewing experience. While they haven’t revealed exactly what changes have been made, the new cut is expected to address some of the issues that held the original back.

The film features Suriya in a dual role as Krishna and the gangster Raju Bhai, alongside Samantha, Vidyut Jammwal, Manoj Bajpayee, and Dalip Tahil in supporting roles. With Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring the music, Santosh Sivan handling cinematography, and Anthony on the edit table, Anjaan was always a technically strong film, one that may now get a second chance to shine.

Whether the new version will change the film’s legacy remains to be seen, but fans will no doubt be curious to revisit this stylish gangster saga on the big screen – this time, perhaps, with a sharper edge.
