Nag Ashwin narrates script to Rajinikanth; Vyjayanthi movies to possibly back the project
Is Superstar Rajinikanth teaming up with Nag Ashwin for his next? A surprise collaboration in the making?
According to Telugu 360, acclaimed filmmaker Nag Ashwin, known for Mahanati and the recently released Kalki 2898 AD, has narrated a fresh script to Superstar Rajinikanth. This potential Rajinikanth – Nag Ashwin collaboration has reportedly received a positive nod from the actor, who asked Ashwin to develop it further. The meeting was reportedly facilitated by Ashwini Dutt, founder of Vyjayanthi Movies, which is also expected to bankroll the project.
With delays surrounding the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD, Ashwin appears to have used this time to explore other creative opportunities. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s Coolie, released just 10 days ago, has taken the global box office by storm with record-breaking collections.
Rajinikanth is currently shooting for Jailer 2 with director Nelson under the banner of Sun Pictures. While names like Mari Selvaraj, Nithilan (of Maharaja fame), and Karthik Subbaraj have been speculated for Thalaivar 173, industry buzz now points strongly toward a Kamal Haasan – Lokesh Kanagaraj collaboration for that project. Whether Nag Ashwin’s film will materialize as Thalaivar 174 or take a different form is yet to be known.
