Tamil Film Producers’ Council condemns Siddharth

After the fateful postponement of Jigarthanda last week, an enraged Siddharth took to Twitter to vent his anger. In a series of tweets, he alleged foul-play in release and also accused producer Kathiresan for not informing the team about his decision to postpone the film to August 1st. Now, producers Sathyajothi Films TG Thiagarajan, T.Siva, Radhakrishnan, S.Thanu, Chitra Lakshmanan, H. Murali, Soundara Pandian and Kathiresan have jointly condemned Siddharth on behalf of Tamil Film Producers’ Council, citing his comments as irresponsible.

Please find below producer Kathiresan’s explanation justifying his decision to postpone the film to August 1st.

I have produced Dhanush’s Polladhavan, Aadukalam and Nayyandi under my production house Group Company. I have distributed around 50 films and released audio CDs of more than 200 films. In addition, I have also taken care of overseas distribution for nearly 100 films. I have been releasing films in an honest way for the past 20 years and gained a good name for our production house in the industry.

I have invested a lot of money in Siddharth’s Jigarthanda. Every time we planned to release the film, either Vijay, Ajith films or Kochadaiyaan came our way and I didn’t want to take any risk. Any producer would like to only release his film as soon as possible to avoid finance problems. None would like to postpone their film deliberately.

Dhanush’s VIP is running successfully and the general consensus among distributors and theater owners was that if Jigarthanda releases next week, it will have a bigger release with more number of screens. Jigarthanda is my child. Who would like to kill their own child? Why couldn’t Siddharth understand this?
