“Shamitabh will be the finest album of Ilayaraja’s career”

Director R Balki and Ilaiyaraja combo has delivered scintillating albums in their past two outings – Cheenikum and Paa. Now, when everyone is eagerly awaiting the album of their third collaboration Shamitabh, R. Balki says this will be the finest album of Ilaiyaraja’s career, raising the expectations to sky high. “”It’s Ilaiyaraja’s music that inspired me to get into cinema. That’s the reason I always want Raja sir to compose for my films. And Shamitabh will be the finest album of Ilaiyaraja’s career, the songs have come out really well,” says R. Balki.

The song sung by Shruti Haasan seems to be the highlight of the album. Apparently, it was Ilaiyaraja who suggested Shruti Haasan’s name for the album and later Balki spoke with her. Shamitabh, starring Dhanush, Akshara Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan in important roles, is slated for release on Februray 6th, 2014.
