Madras High Court issues interim injunction against using the title ‘Mersal’ for promotions

Madras High Court has issued an interim injunction to Sri Thenandal Films against using the title ‘Mersal’ for promotions until October 3rd, following a civil suit filed by A. Rajendran of Film Factori.

In his petition, Rajendran claimed that he had registered the titles ‘Merrasalaitan,’ and ‘Naan Merrasalaitan,’ with the Tamil Film Producers Council in 2015 and has been renewing it for the past two years.

However, Mersal is also the first Tamil film title to be trademarked by Thenandal Films. And reliable sources say the makers will not have to face any serious consequences to settle this issue amicably.
