Long sight of lovely melodies.

Kaalakkoothu offers a wide range of melodies, nicely compiled by Justin Prabhakaran. Though it is a little one-toned as it paves no way for any other genre, it's nice to see a new Ilaiyaraja emerging slowly in the Tamil music scene. If a person can compose six melodies in the same album and make you come back to it from time to time, he needs to be applauded.

Kanna Katti: Singer – Haricharan

Awesome is the word for the feels you can relate with this track. Haricharan takes care of the modulations in a laid-back rendition, and the music is so soothing to the ears. Our PICK.

Engeyo Pogum: Singer – Sriram Parthasarathy

With a lightweight drum background, Justin brings about a beautiful tune which passionately expresses the need for a partner. Sriram Parthasarathy rules the singing department, making it our PICK.

Netri Kungumam: Singer – VV Prasanna, Chinmayi

Justin hereby scores a hattrick of melodies with this mesmerizing song, where VV Prasanna and Chinmayi come in to do perfect jobs on the mic. The classical touches and percussions are additional assets to our PICK.

Kannukulla: Singer – Sathyaprakash, Sharanya Srinivas

Though the mischief and the theme is something we’ve seen and heard already, it’s Justin’s tune that makes this a listenable track. Perfunctory.

Alli Kodiye: Singer – Sathyaprakash

A sad song which is sung very carefully by Sathyaprakash. Both the tune and the arrangements sound a little old fashioned here.

Jeevan Indha Kaname: Singer – Sathyaprakash, Latha Krishna

A low profile, slow track which works as a short one. Sathyaprakash manages to find some variation though it’s his third song in the album.
